ACSD Department of Special Services

The Department of Special Services in the Amite County School District shares the district mission to educate all students. We are striving for excellence for all children in our county.  The department of special services offers a wide variety of services including:

  • SCD Classes
  • K-12 Inclusion with Co-Teaching and tutorial support
  • 9-12 Mississippi Occupational Diploma
  • Life Skills Program
  • Transition Services
  • Preschool -- 12 Speech and Language Services
  • School 500 Services

Through Child Find activities, all children with disabilities residing in the county including children with disabilities attending private schools, regardless of the severity of the disability, who are in need of special education and related services are identified, located, and evaluated.  The collection and use of data to meet the requirements of Child Find is subject to confidentiality requirements.  Students receiving special services within the district do so under federal, state, and local guidelines for individualized education planning, based upon current MDE evaluations.  
 
The Special Services Office is located at Amite County Elementary School.
